Cherie Booth QC’s visit to Liverpool

Cherie Booth QC visited Liverpool on the opening of the legal year, welcomed by the Liverpool Law Society and the Northern Circuit

Cherie Booth QC was the guest speaker of the Conkerton Memorial Lecture hosted by Liverpool Law Society at the Town Hall on 12 October 2006. Her speech, which dealt with human rights in an international perspective, was followed by the opening of the legal year. Welcome speeches were given by the Lord Mayor, the President of the Liverpool Law Society, Helen Broughton and Michael Redfern, QC, Leader of the Northern Circuit. Miss Booth was presented with a copy of HH David Lynch’s Northern Circuit Directory, together with Liverpool Law Society’s ‘A Century of Liverpool Lawyers’.

International Committee for the Northern Circuit

Gerard McDermott QC is to establish an International Committee for the Circuit.  Gerard has been involved in International Affairs for many years and will be looking to foster relations with one or two jurisdictions overseas in addition to organising educational programmes.

The International Committee will hold its inaugural meeting at 9 St John Street Chambers on Thursday 2 February 2012.  If you would like to become involved in this group, please email Susan Chisholme or Holly-Ann Shaw.
